JOB SUMMARYThe Import Specialist is responsible for managing international shipments, ensuring compliance with trade regulations, and coordinating with logistics providers, customs authorities, and internal departments to facilitate smooth import operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Logistics & Coordination
Arrange and monitor international shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Coordinate with freight forwarders.
Track shipments and resolve any transportation issues.
Customs & Compliance
Ensure adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
Prepare and verify shipping and customs documentation (e.g., Bill of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
Manage import licenses and permits as required.
Documentation & Record-Keeping
Maintain accurate records of import/export transactions and documentation.
Ensure all documents are prepared in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Supplier & Customer Communication
Liaise with international suppliers and partners to facilitate trade operations.
Address inquiries related to shipping schedules, costs, and regulatory requirements.
Cost & Inventory Management
Monitor shipping costs, tariffs, and taxes to optimize expenses.
Work with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure supply chain efficiency.
Problem-Solving & Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in import/export processes and develop solutions.
Handle claims related to lost, damaged, or delayed shipments.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or a related field.
Experience in import operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
Knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Foreign language proficiency (English is a must, Mandarin is a plus).
