We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Business Analyst/Business Manager to join our growing interior design firm. If you have a strong background in financial analysis, business management, and strategic decision-making, and you're passionate about supporting the financial health of creative design projects, we would love to hear from you.
OVERVIEW
This role will provide financial analysis and strategic thinking to support the company's growth and profitability. You will analyze data from past projects to inform pricing, budgeting, and forecasting for future projects. Additionally, the role involves preparing and presenting proposals to clients in a professional manner, ensuring that the company's fees are appropriate and profitable. You will also identify areas for increased efficiency and additional revenue, including tracking overtime and site visits. Furthermore, you will assist in monitoring the current accounting work to ensure accurate financial management. Overall, the finance role is expected to provide high-level strategic financial guidance and analysis to support the company's growth and profitability goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Analysis & Strategy:
- Analyze data from past interior design projects to inform pricing, budgeting, and forecasting for future projects.
- Provide financial insights to help the leadership team make strategic decisions and optimize revenue streams.
- Prepare and present proposals to clients, ensuring that the company's fees align with project scope and profitability.
Revenue Optimization & Efficiency:
- Identify areas for increasing efficiency and generating additional revenue, such as tracking overtime and site visits.
- Develop strategies to optimize pricing and improve client retention to maximize profitability.
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved profitability.
Financial Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Create and manage detailed financial forecasts and budgets for design projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Track project expenses, monitor revenue generation, and ensure designs are delivered within budget, identifying potential cost overruns or efficiencies.
Accounting Support & Monitoring:
- Assist in monitoring the current accounting work, ensuring that financial documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure that project financials (budget, revenue, costs) are properly tracked and adhered to throughout the lifecycle of each project.
Process Improvement & Reporting:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and overall business efficiency.
- Create financial reports and dashboards that track revenue, costs, and profitability by project and client.
- Implement best practices for financial reporting and business management within the context of interior design projects.
Software Proficiency & Financial Tools:
- Stay up to date with the latest financial analysis tools and project management software, such as Excel, financial modeling software, Gsuite.
- Ensure proficiency in accounting and financial systems used in design project management (e.g., Xero).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, business management, or a related field, preferably within the design or creative services industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience analyzing financial performance within an interior design context or similar service-based industry.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and concisely.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing financial challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, architects, and senior management.
- Knowledge of project-based financial management and reporting in the interior design industry is highly preferred.
