Job Overview
The Biodiversity and Conservation Manager will lead the conservation efforts within a carbon project framework. In this role, they will focus on protecting biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and integrating innovative conservation strategies into the carbon offset initiatives. They will be responsible for designing and implementing conservation measures that align environmental objectives with the carbon projects, ensuring sustainable land management practices are at the forefront of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Biodiversity Conservation Strategy: Develop and implement biodiversity protection and restoration plans in alignment with carbon project goals.
Habitat & Ecosystem Management: Oversee reforestation, habitat restoration, and ecosystem resilience projects.
Carbon Sequestration & Monitoring: Ensure conservation efforts contribute to carbon sequestration objectives, track biodiversity indicators, and report environmental impacts.
Regulatory Compliance & Certification: Ensure adherence to national and international conservation laws, as well as carbon project standards such as VCS, CCB, and other relevant frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with local communities, governmental bodies, and NGOs to promote conservation best practices.
Research & Data Analysis: Conduct ecological surveys, species assessments, and habitat monitoring to inform conservation planning.
Training & Capacity Building: Provide guidance and training to project teams, community members, and partners on biodiversity conservation practices.
Partnership Development: Collaborate with environmental organizations, research institutions, and conservation experts to enhance project impact.
Knowledge of international conservation standards (e.g., CCB, VCS, REDD+).
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Bachelor Degree of Forestry/ Biology / Environmental Engineering or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, research or management, preferably in the forestry or natural resource management sectors
Strong understanding of ecological principles and biodiversity assessment methods
Experience in designing and implementing biodiversity monitoring programs
Knowledge of relevant local and international environmental regulations and permits
Experience working with communities on biodiversity conservation projects
Experience with specific taxa relevant to project areas (e.g. plants, birds, mammals)
Working Conditions
Work involves both office-based research and extensive fieldwork in forested and remote locations.
Exposure to various climatic conditions, rugged terrains, and wildlife.
Collaboration with conservation teams, landowners, and governmental organizations.
Periodic travel for stakeholder meetings, ecological assessments, and project evaluations.

Engage with local communities, government agencies, and international conservation partners.
Lead a team of biodiversity and conservation officers, ecologists, and field staff. (for JKT)
About Tirta Carbon Indonesia (TCI)
Tirta Carbon Indonesia (TCI) is the local project entity responsible for implementing Project Kukar, a large-scale nature-based carbon initiative based in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. TCI is part of the Integrate Climate Group, a Singapore-based project developer specializing in the conservation and restoration of forests, wetlands, and peatlands across Southeast Asia.
