Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and technological innovation? Yayasan Jejak Pulang, located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, is seeking for a passionate and dedicated Senior Veterinarian to join our team.

What You'll Do:

• Lead and manage the veterinary department.  Conduct health checks, preventive care, and emergency treatments

• Perform comprehensive health evaluations, implement preventive care strategies, administer emergency treatments, and manage reproductive health procedures for both wild and domestic animals to ensure their overall well-being

• Oversee and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in animal enclosures, monitor staff adherence to hygiene protocols, and manage the correct application, storage, and handling of cleaning agents and supplies

• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized nutrition plans for orangutans based on their specific dietary needs, monitor and adjust feeding practices, and supervise the preparation and delivery of balanced meals. 

• Implement and promote disease prevention measures that address the interconnected health of animals, humans, and the environment, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing potential health risks 

• Manage and support the rehabilitation process for orangutans, providing guidance and adjustments to care plans to align with the animals' health and behavioral needs, and monitor their progress towards recovery and adaptation

• Maintain, inspect, and inventory medical and clinic equipment and supplies, ensuring they are properly serviced, stored, and readily available to support effective veterinary care

• Accurately document all clinical findings, treatments, and observations in patient records, prepare detailed reports on animal health and rehabilitation progress, and ensure all documentation complies with organizational standards

 Requirements:

• Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, preferably with experience in wildlife conservation

• Minimum 3 years experience in veterinary medicine, especially in wildlife conservation and rehabilitation is a strong advantage

• Full veterinary clinical skills including diagnosis, treatment, and emergency care

• Knowledge of government regulations on animal health.

• Medical inventory and administration management skills.

• Communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external agencies.

• Adaptive and committed to continuous learning in veterinary science.

• Strong stress management and adaptability in field conditions.

• High integrity, detail-oriented, organized, and systematic work style.

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills.

• Passion for animal welfare, open-mindedness toward behavioral science and ethology.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written) for internal communication, documentation, and collaboration with external veterinary partners.

• Willing to live to Samboja, East Kalimantan

Desirable  :

1. Experience with Primate Care: Previous experience working with primates, especially orangutans, or a solid understanding of their health and behavior.  

2. Fieldwork Experience: Experience or comfort with fieldwork, including working in remote or challenging environments.  

3. Research Interest: A demonstrated interest in contributing to veterinary research or wildlife conservation efforts.
