Job Posting Description

The Opportunity

We are looking for a driven and innovative Senior Data Scientist to join our Advanced Analytics team at Manulife. As part of our Generative AI initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing advanced analytical solutions focused on building various Generative AI solutions. Your work will be instrumental in helping us optimize operations in contact centers, underwriting, and claims, and enhance our sales, products, and services to meet customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with data engineers and IT Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand source data and utilize large datasets to prepare and optimize data for building Generative AI solutions using OpenAI services to enhance our products and services and scale them globally.
2. Develop and implement advanced machine learning models to address complex business challenges, leveraging various algorithms and techniques, with a specific emphasis on utilizing OpenAI services for building Generative AI solutions.
3. Work closely with partners to gather requirements, design data models, and implement tailored solutions.
4. Standardize processes, techniques, and tools into best practices for other data scientists.
5. Drive the adoption of data and AI-driven solutions by influencing and partnering with key stakeholders.
6. Innovate and explore creative methods to source and utilize structured and unstructured data for building data and AI-driven solutions. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in AI/ML, with a specific focus on leveraging OpenAI services to continuously enhance our products and scaling efforts.

We are looking for a candidate who has:

1. An advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or another quantitative field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing data science to solve high-impact business problems, with a specific recent focus on building Generative AI applications.
3. Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation techniques, particularly in understanding customers and scaling globally.
4. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with experience in prompt engineering and relevant packages like LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, and more.
5. Practical experience with big data processing frameworks and platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Spark, focusing on leveraging these technologies for building and scaling Generative AI solutions using OpenAI services.
6. Excellent communication skills - able to translate sophisticated data science concepts to both technical and non-technical partners, specifically within the context of building Generative AI solutions using OpenAI services and scaling across Asia.
7. Track record of implementing AI solutions into production with tangible business value, particularly related to Generative AI solutions.
