Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As our multilingual population grows, Amman Academy is expanding language support. The PYP EAL Specialist will design and deliver high-impact English language development through a blend of push-in co-teaching, small-group intervention, and short-cycle progress monitoring—ensuring every child accesses a rich, inquiry-driven PYP curriculum. The role partners closely with classroom teachers, the PYP Coordinator, and families to build a whole-school culture of language-rich learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Co-plan & co-teach with homeroom/specialist teachers to embed language objectives in unit plans and daily lessons, aligned with the IB PYP framework.
Differentiate instruction using WIDA ELD, SIOP, and other research-based models.
Screen, place, and monitor students using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
Track progress with short data cycles and communicate growth.
Coach teachers in language-development strategies.
Partner with families to support literacy at home.
Contribute to IB documentation and evaluation requirements.
Uphold child-protection and inclusion policies.
Background Experiences
Proven success accelerating literacy for early/primary multilingual learners.
Experience applying co-teaching models effectively in primary settings.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and families to support language development.
Familiarity with international school or IB PYP environments preferred.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field plus a recognized ESL/EAL qualification.
Fluency with WIDA/CEFR-aligned progressions and assessment tools.
Knowledge of research-based instructional models for multilingual learners (SIOP, GLAD, etc.).
IB PYP training or experience is highly desirable.
Bahasa Indonesia proficiency for effective family partnership is an advantage.
Expertise & Competencies
Ability to embed language-development strategies into inquiry-based PYP learning.
Strong data-literacy skills with short-cycle progress monitoring.
Effective coaching and mentoring skills for teachers in language-rich practices.

Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse families and staff.
Work Environment & Expectations
