Location: Jakarta

JOB PURPOSE To help achieve measurable human rights impact in Indonesia through strategic development of campaign and communication materials that reflect and promote Amnesty International's goals, objectives and messages. To support and liaise with Amnesty International (AI) movement and outside networks to ensure maximum impact.

ABOUT YOU As the Campaign Officer, you will be able to understand and express your ideas in English, and other relevant languages, in a fluent, clear and concise way. You will have the ability to represent Amnesty International in a variety of forums and you will understand the importance of of communications for the coordination and effective functioning of teams.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To support and liaise with AI sections maintain and develop networks of national and international NGOs and other external partners in the development and implementation of campaigning strategies and plans
2. To build up a pool of national/regional contacts and correspondence to ensure all campaign messages are communicated in a manner suitable to the stakeholders, including to the government or other decision makers in the designated country
3. To identify and tell the story of people on the ground: interview people who may be vulnerable and have awareness of security issues around the publication of these materials
4. To create campaign outputs that resonates with various level of audience and coordinate with related officer/team in order to disseminate them
5. To participate in the coordination of the work of the campaign team and contribute to the overall flexibility of resource use, including through setting priorities, preparing work plans, monitoring their progress and maintaining basic budgets

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience of strategic campaigning, including knowledge of the steps required to devise campaigning strategy and awareness of the need for actions and campaigning techniques to be based on strategies and be adapted to effect changes in a given situation
• Knowledge of the sub-region in general and a specialist knowledge in Indonesia
• Ability to understand and express ideas in English as well as in Bahasa and, where applicable, other relevant languages in a fluent, clear and concise way, both orally and in writing, and to communicate complex information and institutional positions
• Ability to represent AI in a variety of forums, particularly with civil society and the AI membership
• Understanding of equal opportunities, cultural diversity and gender issues as well as a commitment to apply relevant policies.
