Reinsurance Actuary - Remote from EMEA

Wakam is a European B2B2C insurer that designs white label insurance products for its partners (e-retailers, brokers and fintechs/insurtechs, etc.). Our insurance products are embedded in the products or services offered to the end-customer.

We provide most of our products through API, and hosts white label insurance solutions via our Play&Plug technology platform.

Wakam, the most modern, innovative, and disruptive insurance company whose reinsurance is at the heart of its business model, is seeking a reinsurance actuary to join its Reinsurance department. In our growing context, you will be in the spotlight through the optimisation of the use of reinsurance which is essential to Wakam model sustainability.

Directly reporting to the Chief of Reinsurance, you will be specifically responsible for:

• Refining the group reinsurance structure blending risk modelling and capital optimisation considerations under risk appetite et regulatory constraint.
• Monitoring the reinsurance performance in various processes (budgeting, closure), provide analysis explaining the main observed discrepancies and feedback the reinsurance structures and the next year budget with appropriated evolutions.

• Building-up and leverage a strong relationship with Brokers' and Reinsurers' actuaries to enable in-depth technical negotiation during the reinsurance placement.
• Preparing the renewal submission packs and derive analysis that support negotiation in order to achieve the renewal targets.
• Providing regular treaty performance monitoring through one-one meeting and/or global webinar to the reinsurers, supported by detailed information gathered from a nurture relationship with the underwriting team.

• Graduate actuary or equivalent with a master's degree specialized in applied mathematics, statistics, and/or actuarial sciences
• Several years of experience with in-depth skills in outward reinsurance, solvency 2 or capital management, gained within insurance/reinsurance companies, brokerage, consulting firms
• Good understanding of reinsurance mechanisms or keen to specialize in the Reinsurance area
• Strong relationships skills and ability to interact with various stakeholders, whether external (reinsurers, brokers), or internal (underwriting team, finance, capital, etc.)
• Strong appetite for handling and processing data
• Proficient with Excel Essential, basic programming skills in R, Python, SAS
• Proficiency in English in a professional context (reading, writing, speaking)

• Ability to step back, high level of autonomy, and strong proactivity to understand our atypical business model, search for the right information, and deduce relevant analyses
• Appreciation of teamwork and project mode in a cross-functional environment
• Organization, rigor, and precision
• Curiosity and strong analytical and synthesis skills
• Desire to invest in a modern and dynamic scale-up company, in a cross-functional role that will offer the opportunity to work directly with all business lines while applying actuarial methodologies
