Company Description

ByThen is building the AI video producer for long-form content. Our platform gives creators an entire production team in a single workflow, generating ideas, scripts, visuals, voice, and music, then letting them fine-tune pacing, segments, and transitions before publishing directly. Backed by a recent $5M seed round, we’re a small, fast-moving team turning a proprietary production engine into the easiest way to make long-form video.

Role Description

Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products by developing and executing automated test scripts, as well as conducting thorough testing and quality checks. The personnel will work closely with the development team to identify and resolve issues, implement testing procedures, and ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain comprehensive test case documentation across product modules.
• Execute manual and automated tests across E2E user journeys and regression cycles.
• Coordinate and support UAT programs with engineering and product stakeholders.
• Identify, document, and track bugs with clear severity classification and reproduction steps.
• Build and improve internal QA methodology standards, test frameworks, and tooling.
• Validate billing flows, credit logic, third-party integrations (e.g. Stripe), and API behavior.
• Collaborate on test planning from feature spec through to production sign-off

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from relevant major. 
• 1-3 years of experience as backend
• Solid foundation in manual testing: test case writing, exploratory testing, bug reporting
• Hands-on experience with at least one automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar)
• Comfortable writing basic SQL queries to validate data and trace backend state
• Experience testing payment/subscription flows or third-party integrations is a plus
• Strong documentation habits — you write test cases others can actually follow
• Proactive communicator who flags risks early and follows through on sign-off
• Experience with AI/ML products or content creation platforms
• Familiarity with Stripe, webhook testing, or pub/sub patterns
• Background in building or scaling QA processes from early stages
