We are currently seeking highly motivated candidate to join our Legal team as Counsel, who will be based in Jakarta. Position purpose: Manage legal aspects of the business of Sampoerna related to subject matters or markets to be defined/matters assigned by Sampoerna Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel and certain Region or Affiliate project teams, and to assist the Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel in implementation of departmental practices and objectives in Sampoerna. This position works with Sampoerna Law Team to reach business objectives in a manner consistent with all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies, reporting to Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel within an established framework including review against defined targets. YOUR DAY TO DAY • Provide timely legal analysis, advice on Sampoerna business activities, representation, negotiation and documentation in a wide variety of HM Sampoerna management initiatives and other matters in accordance with the intentions of business and legal management and company policies. Share issues of common interest with the members of the Law Department including information on developments in laws and regulations in Indonesia as well as offshore, including best practices for advising clients and organizing workflow. • Structure and ensure implementation of development plans for direct reports, if any. • To ensure the provision of optimal legal support for Sampoerna and certain Affiliate and Region project teams through both internal and external resources. • To assist Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel in implementation of departmental plans and objectives within PMI’s business in Indonesia. Support Sampoerna Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel with respect to implementation and compliance of the relevant Indonesian laws and regulations in order to support the business of Sampoerna. • Support the Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel in the review of Sampoerna’s business proposals for consistency with laws, company policies and the terms of the proposed transactions. To follow developments in Sampoerna’s business to ensure legal compliance and identify legal issues for management. • To remain current and knowledgeable with respect to current and pending legislation, case law and administrative regulations pertinent to the prevailing laws and regulations in Indonesia and providing accurate and timely information to Senior Counsel and Assistant General Counsel in relation to relevant legal developments. • Assisting in setting, and managing, budgets for the Law Department of Sampoerna. • Participate on project teams, ensuring that their decisions and recommendations protect the legal interests of the company, and execute decisions to achieve objectives on a timely basis. Provide training on legal issues to employees of Sampoerna as needed. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Law. • Have min. 5 years’ experience for similar role in private practices or in-house counsel. • Licensed to practice (Peradi) is mandatory • Ability to adapt and perform in dynamic and fast-paced work environment • Ability to manage time and tasks effectively • Good Communication and Interpersonal skills • Excellent in English, both written and verbal • Willing to be located in Jakarta.
