Summary:The work schedule for this position is:
- Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Must be available to travel throughout Indonesia to support American Spaces projects and activities.
The American Spaces Program Specialist (ASPS) develops and recommends the Mission’s overall program strategy, strategic objectives, and performance standards for American Spaces; recommends strategic locations for optimal return on investment in American Spaces and overall program development; coordinates nationwide campaigns and the sharing of activities and projects among American Spaces; maintains appropriate standards of professional staffing, customer service, physical design, and presentation, including branding and maintenance of facilities; and evaluates each American Space’s performance. Coordinates across Embassy Jakarta, constituent posts, the U.S. Mission to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and with the Regional Public Engagement Specialist (REPS) to ensure maximum impact for each Space’s programming.
This Mission is a large Mission located in a country of major importance to the United States. Indonesia has the highest level of global influence of the vast majority of other countries around the world and its government is a principal player with which the United States interacts in all aspects of pressing multilateral issues.
Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:
For the experience and education requirements applicants must meet either option 1 or option 2.
Option 1
EXPERIENCE: At least four years of progressively responsible experience in information resources, public education, public affairs, or public relations in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational public service institution (such as a museum, think tank, American Studies or cultural center, or library) is required, with communications, marketing, or public relations-related duties as a significant part of the job. At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
(Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)
EDUCATION: At least a university degree in Communications, Education, International Relations, American Studies, Marketing is required.
Option 2
EXPERIENCE: At least six years of progressively responsible experience in information resources, public education, public affairs, or public relations in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational public service institution (such as a museum, think tank, American Studies or cultural center, or library) is required, with communications, marketing, or public relations-related duties as a significant part of the job. At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
(Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)
EDUCATION: At least a 2 years of full-time study at college or university in any field is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Must have knowledge of marketing techniques, market analysis and analytics, and customer service standards in the United States and Indonesia; knowledge of trends in experiential learning and audience engagement; and an understanding of the communications and information environment in the United States and Indonesia. Must have comprehensive knowledge of the attitudes and preferences of the EV audience sector(s).

Evaluations:LANGUAGE: Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required. This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Analytic Skills: Must have strong analytic skills. Must be able to identify, analyze, predict, and continually assess Press and Media, Emerging Voices (EV), and Established Opinion Leaders (EOL) audience attitudes and evaluate the impact of projects and modify approaches for greatest outcomes. Must be able to perceive the emergence of new influencers and adjust operations and programming accordingly.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Must have excellent customer relations, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills and be able to identify and engage key figures critical to shaping local public opinion. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including for public speaking, interviewing for evaluation purposes, writing reports, and contributing materials for publication in both English and Indonesian. Must be able to tailor communications to fit formal and informal situations and different ethnic, religious, and linguistic cultures. Must be able to brief U.S. officers and visitors on a variety of issues and interpret between English and Indonesian for public programs.
Management Skills: Strong management skills are required, including the ability to develop and oversee project budgets and to organize, run, and present professional and cultural projects such as workshops, seminars, digital video conferences, panel discussions, lectures, and camps. Must be able to negotiate agreements with partner institutions and manage their fulfillment.
Technical Skills: Good keyboarding and data entry skills and excellent familiarity with electronic discovery tools, in particular the internet, and standard information retrieval practices and procedures are required. Thorough, detailed knowledge of various computer software programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and graphic design and photo editing software, is required. Detailed knowledge of and the ability to use social media and mobile platforms and basic photo and video skills are required. Must have good numerical skills to be able to develop and manage project and grant budgets.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Indonesia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
