Snorkeling Guide

Job Purpose:

Safety: The primary responsibility of a snorkeling tour guide is to ensure the safety of participants. They must be well-versed in snorkeling safety procedures, including providing instructions on how to properly use snorkeling equipment, demonstrating proper breathing techniques, and explaining potential risks and hazards. They should assess the swimming and snorkeling abilities of participants and provide guidance accordingly. Additionally, they must be trained in first aid and CPR in case of emergencies.

Equipment and Gear: A snorkeling tour guide is responsible for providing and maintaining snorkeling equipment and gear. They should ensure that each participant has properly fitted masks, snorkels, fins, and flotation devices if necessary. The guide should inspect the gear before each excursion, identifying and addressing any issues or malfunctions.

Guiding and Instruction: During the snorkeling tour, the guide leads participants to the best snorkeling spots, taking into consideration factors such as visibility, water conditions, and marine life presence. They should have a good understanding of the local marine ecosystem, including different species of fish, coral formations, and other aquatic life. Guides often offer educational information about the marine environment, pointing out interesting features and answering questions from participants.

Environmental Awareness: A responsible snorkeling tour guide promotes environmental conservation and awareness. They should educate participants about the importance of preserving the marine ecosystem, including guidelines for responsible snorkeling practices such as avoiding contact with the coral reefs, not disturbing marine life, and not leaving any waste or debris behind. Guides often explain the fragility of the ecosystem and how human actions can impact it.

Communication and Customer Service: A snorkeling tour guide must possess excellent communication skills. They should be able to convey instructions, information, and safety guidelines clearly to participants, ensuring everyone understands and feels comfortable. Guides should be friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable, providing excellent customer service by addressing concerns, answering questions, and fostering a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for participants.

Emergency Preparedness: While rare, emergencies can occur during snorkeling tours. A guide should be prepared to handle emergencies promptly and efficiently. They should have a thorough understanding of emergency procedures, including responding to injuries, rescues, or incidents such as snorkelers becoming separated or lost. Guides must remain calm under pressure and effectively coordinate with any additional support or emergency services that may be required.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Assist with preparing/loading all equipment at our facilities.
• Welcome our customers, assist them with gearing up.
• Give comprehensive briefings in English about safety and the area.
• Provide a high level of customer service during the snorkeling tour and during all the time spent with clients.
• Take good quality photos of the clients inside and outside the water all along the snorkeling tour.
• Complete sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities.
• Follow our procedures and proper maintenance of equipment.
• Recommend/generate sales for other tours offer by Komodo Resort & Diving Club.
• Other tasks assigned by Komodo Resort & Diving Club
• Basic English speaking skills & service oriented.
• Flexibility and ability to work in a team.
• Professional and kind behavior towards all our international clients and staff members.
